LAOS
Vang Vieng, Laos’ oasis, has been reformed and refreshed. What was once a party town has been transformed into a remote sanctuary nestled in the shadows of stunning green mountains and cliffs. Bike through rice paddies, lush green countryside, and blue lagoons. Even better, hike up to one of the many stunning panoramic viewpoints! Vang Vieng is a great combination of adventure and relaxation, so prepare for three exciting days filled with activities.

Outskirts of Vang Vieng

Spend your first day exploring the beautiful outskirts of Vang Vieng. Begin the day by renting a motorcycle and riding through the countryside, over charming bridges, to breathtaking viewpoints and roaring waterfalls.

1. Motorcycling around the neighbourhood

Vang Vieng is home to some of Asia’s most scenic motorcycle routes! The best way to see everything is to ride one of the many motorcycle loops. Travel through lush tropical forests, remote villages, and enchanting blue lagoons. Keep an eye out for some amazing wildlife; it’s one of the most enjoyable things to do in Vang Vieng.

2. Waterfall of Kaeng Nyui

Experience the thrill of the Kaeng Nyui Waterfall! It is ideal for cooling off from the hot sun because it is only a 30-minute drive from town. Another reason to go is the scenic drive to the falls. Beautiful drive through unspoiled nature, traditional Laotian houses, and cute farms!

3. The Pha Tang Bridge and Temple

The picture-perfect village of Ban Pha Tang is only a short drive from Vang Vieng! It’s becoming more popular as a thing to do in Vang Vieng due to its postcard-worthy views. Find the river bridge and take in the breathtaking view of the dense greenery and limestone karsts ahead.
A small Buddhist temple called Wat Pho Karm Chai Mong Kol is also located near the river. This colourful temple is well worth a short drive to see because of its breathtaking setting.

4. Phu Kham Cave & Blue Lagoon 1

Swim in the turquoise waters of Vang Vieng’s lagoons! Take the road signs that lead to Blue Lagoon 1. Because it is only a short ride (20 minutes) from town, this lagoon is easily one of the most popular things to do in Vang Vieng.

As a result, it is best to arrive as early as possible in the morning. You’ll have the lagoon to yourself for a relaxing swim and to enjoy the rope swings.

5. 3rd Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon 3 is approximately a half-hour drive from Blue Lagoon 1. It is much quieter because it is further from town, but it is also much more scenic. Enjoy a relaxing dip in the water or sunbathe on one of the bamboo rafts. The drive here is breathtaking! However, keep in mind that the route is a dirt track, so drive carefully.

6. Viewpoint of Nam Xay

Stop for sunset at Nam Xay Viewpoint on your way back to Vang Vieng. Hike to the top of the limestone karst, where a motorbike has been placed (by locals) and the Laos flag is flapping in the wind. This is without a doubt one of the best things to do in Vang Vieng and a great way to end the day.
