The Best Things to Do in Vancouver (BC, Canada)

The train ride up was fantastic and immediately puts you in a good mood.

It seemed like such a good idea – especially the train ride (where I got to see a wild American Bald Eagle – those things are huge and magnificent) – and I expected Vancouver, and indeed Canada, to be similar to the United States, but it is quite different.

The city is lovely and gleaming!

It’s a lovely and lively city. It’s the type of city where you can live at a slower pace while still enjoying all of the benefits of living in any major global city (great nightlife, diverse and exciting restaurants, a wide range of shopping options, etc.).

This city’s Chinatown is fantastic!

There are so many cool little shops to visit here, as well as an amazing selection of Chinese restaurants. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Vancouver.

The beach comes next!

It’s not the most impressive beach in the world, but it’s a lovely beach, and coming from London, I know how much we would love to have a beach in London, especially with the temperatures rising in the summer, so the fact that Vancouver has one – and a good one at that – makes me love it even more.

Granville Island

Head down the street to Granville Island Brewing Company. They’ll even let you sample some house-made beer. Don’t forget to browse the rest of Granville Island’s quirky little shops, too.

Seaplane tour

Glaciers, rugged mountaintops, snowcapped peaks – it has it all. If you’re staying in the city, you can actually take a Seaplane flight from the harbourfront itself, with the prices depending on how long you want to spend above the city and mountains.Grouse Mountain offers skiing and scenic views.

Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain is a beautiful place to ski as well as enjoy the breathtaking views of the entire region. From the peak, you can even see the United States.
You might even see some of the local bears up there. If they aren’t hibernating, that is. If you enjoy snow, scenery, and skiing, this is one of the best things to do in Vancouver.
